NL Texas Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been referred to as the greatest poker player on the globe by quite a few of the top-ranked pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before his first birthday. His grandfather taught Phil penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was hooked on poker and wished to discover everything he possibly could about the game. Phil would tell his elders that he was planning on being a professional poker player. He didn’t permit the adverse comments from other people destroy his dream of becoming one of the greatest poker competitors on the planet.

He began competing seriously after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his skills at the casinos of Atlantic City. The first number of years for him were a learning experience and winning was not a normal thing at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 WSOP when he achieved two final tables and came away with his first WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the last table he defeated many of the better known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his game to the next level and headed out west to Vegas. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to dedication and an eternal passion for the game of poker. Phil states that he is learning every day and is quite humble about his achievements. He knows he makes errors in each session of poker and constantly aspires to get better.

Despite the fact that Phil has won some large tournaments, he favors winning cash games on a regular basis.
