Phil Ivey has been branded as the number one poker player on the planet by quite a few of the top-ranked pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before reaching the age of one. His grandfather introduced him to one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was hooked on poker and wanted to discover every little thing he possibly could about the game. He routinely told his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He didn’t let the adverse feedback from other people annihilate his ambition of becoming one of the best poker competitors on the planet.
He began playing intently after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his abilities at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The first number of years for him were a teaching opportunity and winning wasn’t a normal outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made two final tables and won his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the final table he defeated many of the well known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil decided to take his skills to the next level and headed out west to Vegas. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to dedication and an immeasurable passion for poker. He states that he is learning every day and is quite humble about his accomplishments. Phil knows he makes blunders every single game of poker and always aspires to improve.
Even though Ivey has come first in some big tournaments, he likes winning cash games on a normal basis.
