NL Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been branded as the number one poker competitor in the world by quite a few of the top pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before reaching turning one. His papa taught Phil one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was hooked on poker and wished to pickup whatever he could about poker. He would tell his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t let the negative feedback from other people annihilate his dream of being one of the best poker competitors on the planet.

Phil began competing seriously after acquiring a false ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his abilities at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The beginning few years for him were a learning experience and coming away with a win was not a common outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made 2 final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the last table he destroyed many of the well known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Sin City. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to hard work and an immeasurable passion for poker. Phil states that he is learning every day and is very humble about his success. Phil knows he makes blunders every single game of poker and always aspires to get better.

Even though Ivey has come first in some big-time tournaments, he prefers destroying cash games on a normal basis.
