No-Limit Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

[ English ]

Phil Ivey has been branded as the best poker player on the planet by quite a few of the top pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before his first birthday. His papa taught him one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wanted to pickup every little thing he possibly could about the game. He routinely would tell his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He didn’t permit the adverse feedback from others destroy his dream of being one of the greatest poker competitors in the world.

He began competing intently after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his techniques at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The first number of years for Phil were a teaching period and winning was not a regular thing at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made two final tables and came away with his first WSOP bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the closing table he destroyed quite a few of the well known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his skills to the next level and moved out west to Sin City. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Ivey credits his success to discipline and an eternal passion for poker. He states that he is picking up skills every single day and is very humble about his achievements. He knows he makes blunders every single session of poker and always strives to get better.

Despite the fact that Ivey has won some large tournaments, he favors destroying money games on a regular basis.
