Phil Ivey has been referred to as the greatest poker competitor on the globe by many of the top pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before reaching the age of one. His papa taught Phil penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to discover everything he could about the game. He routinely told his grandparents that he was going to be a professional poker player. He did not permit the adverse comments from others destroy his goal of being one of the best poker competitors on the planet.

He began competing intently after getting a false ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his game at the casinos in Atlantic City. The initial number of years for Phil were a teaching opportunity and coming away with a win wasn’t a common outcome at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 WSOP where he achieved 2 final tables and won his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the last table he destroyed a number of the better known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Las Vegas. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Phil credits his achievements to dedication and an immeasurable passion for the game of poker. Phil states that he’s learning every single day and is very abashed about his achievements. Phil knows he makes mistakes every single game of poker and constantly strives to improve.

Despite the fact that Phil has won some big tournaments, he likes destroying cash games on a regular basis.
