No-Limit Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been branded as the greatest poker player on the globe by quite a few of the top-ranked professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before his first birthday. His grandpa taught him penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was addicted to poker and wanted to discover anything he could about poker. He would tell his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil did not permit the negative comments from other people annihilate his ambition of becoming one of the greatest poker players on the planet.

He began competing seriously after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his techniques at the casinos in Atlantic City. The first few years for Phil were a learning opportunity and winning was not a normal thing at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved 2 final tables and came away with his first WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the last table he destroyed many of the better known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his game to the next level and moved out west to Vegas. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Phil credits his success to dedication and an undying passion for the game of poker. He states that he’s learning every day and is quite humble about his success. Phil admits to making blunders in each game of poker and always strives to get better.

Although Ivey has won some big-time tournaments, he prefers destroying cash games on a regular basis.
