NL Texas Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been labeled as the best poker competitor on the planet by most of the top professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before his first birthday. His grandfather taught him one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was hooked on poker and wanted to discover anything he possibly could about the game. He routinely would tell his elders that he was going to be a professional poker player. He did not allow the detrimental comments from other people annihilate his dream of being one of the greatest poker players in the world.

Phil started playing intently after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his skills at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The beginning few years for him were a learning period and winning was not a normal thing at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved 2 final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the final table he destroyed quite a few of the better known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to discipline and an immeasurable passion for the game of poker. He says that he is picking up skills every day and is quite humble about his accomplishments. He admits to making errors every single session of poker and always aspires to improve.

Even though Phil has come first in some big-time tournaments, he prefers winning money games on a regular basis.
