Focus on Annie Duke

[ English ]

Annie Duke mightn’t have won her first WSOP Bracelet until 2004 but she is still one of the most powerful poker players at the cash matches at The Bellagio in Las Vegas. Annie’s longawaited World Series of Poker bracelet came with a win at the "cast aside game" of Omaha Hi-Lo.

While players from the "younger crowd" of poker go wild following a large win at the tournament, Annie heads home and becomes "mom" to her four children. She was born in New Hampshire and raised into a family of poker players. If you don’t accept that, check out her brother, Howard Lederer, in action who coached her how to wager on the game.

However, Mrs. Duke is no small change girl and has succeeded at her cut of difficult tables, which includes knocking out Howard along the way on a couple of occasions. They’re both competitors that have the ability to acquire the big bucks and do so with a grin.

Annie is a tough player at any table considering that she is a legitimate poker player, but it is a bit more than simply being good at the game. Annie is extremely intelligent and graduated from Columbia University where she majored in English and Psychology.

When you are seated across from her at the table you will see Annie is there to play the game and she starts "summing" you up from the time you approach the poker table. If you cannot gamble like a winner, then do not bother.

Acquiring over 3 million dollars in tournament competitions, Annie became a adviser to both UltimateBet.com and actor Ben Affleck, who wished to hone his techniques and develop into a force at the tables.

You will likely glimpse her at the Bellagio, you will notice her on the television and you might even participate against her in a net poker game, but don’t count on an easy win. Unless you are a camp-in-the-making, you’ll not defeat her. Although, it’d be fun to mention you sat at the same table as "The Duke".
